Vasse Plant Hire

Ross May (Vasse Plant Hire), Roxy Grafton (Marketing department, LiuGong machinery Australia), Ron Munce (LiuGong's WA Dealer)
I asked Ross how his business started…
“Vasse plant Hire was started by myself and John Court about 2 years ago. John has always been into earthmoving and he could see there was an opening for plant hire down south (Vasse plant hire is based in Busselton). He attended a mining expo show with Jordan Elliot and that’s where we bought the first couple of machines, once we’d bought a couple, we thought, well there’s no point just having a couple, we may as well get a few more in so we’ve got a few to hire out, so Vasse really just started out of nothing! I used to work for another company when Vasse first started, but we’ve now got a proper yard set up now, with all the LiuGong machines on display on a pretty busy road which is great for business, but originally, the machines came before the business started.”
I asked Ross what he thought of LiuGong…
“It’s probably really hard for LiuGong, because the way the market is, it’s just really CAT orientated, it’s like when DVD players came in, you know, everyone was using a VHS, everyone is a bit sceptical because it’s new to Australia, and also because it’s come in with a Chinese name like that, but that’s the same with everything, until people hop in and operate it, you just can’t tell, there goes the old saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. Everyone who’s operated the machines have been happy with what the machines can do and the performance of the machine with power and so forth. The roller’s been good too, it’s been out on a lot of subdivisional work, and it’s gone really well. Mechanically wise and operating wise they’ve been great.”
I asked Ross what he thought about our excavators…
“The excavator has been very reliable as a hire machine, all of the operators have said that the machines have plenty of power, they were impressed with it as it has a fairly wide pad which makes it really stable compared to a lot of other machines, but all the guys that have used it were more than happy with it, they said it had a good reach too. The amount of time you’ve got to hire the LiuGong’s out before you make your money back is far less that if you were buying one of those big brand name machines, I’m definitely going to be getting value for money with these machines. The excavator was used on a project up north a little while ago, it worked up there in the pits, it was in really hard shale rock, and it went really well. They were using it to track across into the water ponds to clear out all the sludge and that. They gave it a pretty hard time up there being on a mine site, but I didn’t hear any problems while it was up there. Everyone was really impressed with its performance.”
“As far as value for money goes, I’d recommend LiuGong any day.”
