My name is John Cooley, my family and I have a mixed farm in the Cowra District. We also run a small earthmoving business known as Woodstock Earthmovers Pty Ltd. Last Year we encountered a problem – the drought was really biting on the farm side of the business and although the earthmoving business was picking up, our old Hyundai excavator was no longer up to the workload.
Big decision – do we go further into debt and try to work our way out of trouble or close up and save money? We opted for a new excavator as there was plenty of work available de-silting the dams and water holes that had dried up in our district due to the drought.
We chose our LiuGong 922LC for several reasons; the major components were similar to our last machine, which I find to be of very good quality – I’ve had no trouble with these components in previous machines. Another important factor in our decision making process was the price, we found the LiuGong excavator to be affordable and good value for money. LiuGong Machinery Australia were very helpful in allowing us to have a good look and sample the machine prior to any purchase made through their network of dealers.
Our LiuGong 922LC has been used in a variety of ways in the agricultural industry including: dam construction and de-silting, farm roads construction, gravel stock piling and loading, excavating and coverage of silage pits, drainage of wet areas, timber raking, plus shed and house sites. The LiuGong machine has performed well when used in all of these applications; it’s very good to know that one machine can be so diverse in what it can do. The machine has already done over 1100 hours with no apparent problems and is really paying its way be expanding our business and helping the farm cash flow at the same time.
I am particularly impressed with the powerful hydraulic system that allows the machine to be fast and efficient in all of its operating modes, this is something I have had problems with in other machines. The LiuGong excavator is very easy to service with strategically laid out service points facilitating safer servicing procedures; I have always been taken care of very well by my local LiuGong dealership. I am very happy with the 922LC and will be very keen to purchase other LiuGong units in the future.
